Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Kandiah Ratnakumar at Spire include:
Hip surgery, Hip joint replacements including 'Mini Hip, Knee surgery, Knee joint replacement using computer assisted/navigated joint replacement and patient specific knee replacement including minimally invasive unicondylar replacement, Knee arthroscopic meniscal surgery, Cruciate ligament reconstruction and multiple ligament reconstruction of knee medial patella ligament/reconstruction for recurrent dislocation of patella and realignment procedures, Corrective osteotomy for early osteoarthritis of knee using navigation, Sports injury, Lower limb reconstructive surgery
I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex, and Spire Roding Hospital, Redbridge, Essex, offering specialist private hip, knee and lower limb reconstructive surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospitals.
I have a particular interest in knee replacement and sports injury of the knee such as meniscal surgery and ligament reconstruction, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and multiple ligament reconstruction. I started computer assisted (navigated) knee surgery at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals. NHS Trust and also offer this to private patients at Spire Hartswood and Spire Roding hospitals. I believe that navigated knee replacement helps with the alignment as well as the survival of the prosthesis. I have a keen interest in the patient specific (bespoke) knee replacement surgery and corrective osteotomy for early arthritic knee joints (carried out with or without the navigator). I also have an interest in corrective surgery (medial patellar femoral ligament reconstruction) for recurrent dislocation of the patella.
I also work in the NHS at Queens Hospital in Romford. I was originally appointed as orthopaedic surgeon at Rotherham district hospital, South Yorkshire, before moving to Essex. I had also trained for a year in Canada.
