I completed my clinical training as part of the North West Deanery. This provided me with experience in managing a wide range of complex, acute and chronic conditions within gastroenterology. I have practised as a consultant since 2004 and have a specialist interest in inflammatory bowel disease and capsule endoscopy. However, I manage a wide range of conditions within Gastroenterology.
In my current post, I manage patients with gastroenterology problems including inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, dyspepsia, reflux, liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal pain and acute/chronic pancreatitis. I also perform gastroscopy, colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy and undertake capsule endoscopy of the small bowel and colon to diagnose and treat a variety of GI conditions.
To date, I have performed Gastroscopy (>7,000), Colonoscopy (>6,000), Flexible Sigmoidoscopy (>4,000) and Capsule Endoscopy (>25,000) procedures. This has been over a 24 year period in both my NHS and Private Practice.
Patient safety is central to my clinical practice with an emphasis on a gentle, kind and considerate approach to patient care. I discuss and include patients in the decision process for managing their condition. I am the Capsule Endoscopy Lead at Queens Hospital, Romford, and the Principle Investigator in clinical trials relating to inflammatory bowel disease, Barretts Oesophagus and capsule endoscopy.
I have held leadership roles as Gastroenterology Clinical Lead, Endoscopy Clinical Lead, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Lead and Director of Infection Prevention and Control.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my family and cavapoo, walking for hours in the countryside. I love reading and try to read every free minute I have. I have set up a book Ccub with my colleagues. I believe relaxation and exercise is key to good health and Yoga covers this well. I am currently undertaking a Yoga Teacher Training Course. I also love to dabble in writing.
