Dr Angus Robinson has been a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in Brighton and Sussex since 2006. His oncology training included four years in Oxford, two years working as an overseas oncologist with VSO in Kampala, Uganda and one year of specialist training in Edinburgh Cancer Centre. His medical degree prior to this was at Nottingham University.
After an early Physician Senior House Officer position at the Oncology Centre in Barts Hospital, he then sub-specialised in oncology, working in a variety of cancer centres.
His specialist interests currently are prostate cancer, looking after all stages of this disease from monitoring and active surveillance, hormonal treatment and specialist radiotherapy treatments for localised disease including IMRT, IGRT external beam radiotherapy and high dose rate brachytherapy. He also looks after all stages of advanced prostate cancer and has a specialist interest in castration resistant metastatic disease and the novel treatments that have been developed recently in the management of this. He is the principle investigator for a number of local and national and international trials looking at improving outcomes in advanced prostate cancer.
Looking after urological malignancies, he also cares for patients with bladder and renal cancer. Dr Robinson is the specialist lead for the upper gastrointestinal multi-disciplinary meeting, which runs a county wide Sussex oesophagogastric weekly specialist discussion recommending the most appropriate staging investigations, surgical and non surgical treatment options for patients with oesophageal cancer. His clinical upper gastrointestinal cancers includes the management of all patients from East Sussex (Eastbourne and Hastings catchment) with tumours of the pancreas, biliary system, oesophagus and stomach.
Dr Robinson is Clinical Lead for the specialist oesophagogastric upper gastrointestinal multi-disciplinary meeting. His is Co Lead for the cancer division in the KSS clinical research network.
