Ms Marianne Sampson

Marianne was appointed Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in 2009, since when she has been involved in developing the bariatric surgical services in Reading. Marianne has also developed an interest in revisional procedures and follow-up programmes for patients to maximise the benefit of their bariatric surgery.

Mr James Ramus

James is currently employed as a substantive consultant surgeon at the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Trust, Reading. He was appointed in May 2012 as a member of the UGI surgical team to help develop the Bariatric Surgical Unit (Berkshire Weight Loss). He is a fully qualified General and Upper GI surgeon specialising in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gallbladders, gastro-oesophageal reflux, hernias and weight loss.

Mr Gregory Jones

Greg was appointed as Consultant General, Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon at The Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading in November 2015. Currently, his main focus is on developing bariatric surgery for both NHS and private patients in the Thames Valley region. He works closely with fellow surgeons, dieticians, psychologists and specialist nurses in order to provide a comprehensive and effective support for patients’ weight loss journey.

Dr Rachael Brastock

Rachael qualified as a doctor of clinical psychology in 2004 specialising in the field of physical health problems. In 2010 she joined the Clinical Health Psychology Service in Berkshire as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist specialising in weight management / bariatric work, diabetes and endocrinology, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Kath Hallworth-Cook

Kath has worked as a Specialist Bariatric Nurse since 2009 and was involved in the setting up and development of the weight loss surgery service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Kath is passionate about influencing high standards of patient care and has gained further qualifications both in obesity management and leading and developing nursing practice.

Lisa Lovell

Lisa has extensive experience of advising patients regarding weight management in both one-to-one settings as well as group programmes.

At the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Lisa delivers both surgical and non-surgical dietetic interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary team and is fully trained in behaviour change.
