Vascular surgery is a specialty dealing with diseases affecting the vascular system including diseases of arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels.

A perfect leg

Spire Dunedin Hospital provides specialist treatment and investigation of varicose, spider and thread veins.

The service is led by Mr Timothy Magee MD FRCS, Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon.

Facial veins are treated using the Veinwave system. Surgery and sclerotherapy are the main treatments for varicose veins.

Other areas of specialist expertise include related complaints such as leg swelling and ulceration. Axillary and palmar hyperhidrosis are effectively treated by botulinum toxin or thoracoscopic sympathectomy.

The hospital prides itself on the cosmetic and functional results of all interventions and procedures. Practice is research- and evidence-based with an emphasis on clinical excellence.

We are able to provide top quality, affordable patient care, from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation with a single-point of referral, short waiting times, and with appointment and treatment times to suit the patient.

The hospital benefits from on-site X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound and works closely with GPs to ensure they are kept up to date with the very latest in treatment technology.
