I have been a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with a specialist interest in retina and vitreo-retinal diseases since 2003.
I graduated from Trinity Medical School, Dublin in 1991 with honours in surgery. I started my basic surgical training in ophthalmology in 1994 in the UK and completed my higher surgical training in ophthalmology on the West Midlands rotation. This was followed by two fellowships in vitreo-retinal surgery at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre and the Oxford Eye Hospital and a Medical Retina at the Oxford Eye Hospital and Moorfield’s Eye Hospital in London.
My special interests include: Vitreo-retinal surgery, treatment for age related macular degeneration, cataracts and refractive surgery, treatment of macular holes, epiretinal membrane surgery and treatment of retinal vein occlusion.

Cataracts including special implants such as toric and multifocal implants. Diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, refractive surgery, retinal disease, vitreo-retinal surgery, treatment of wet AMD, epiretinal membrane surgery.
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Dunedin Hospital.
