I have been a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon for the last 27 years and I am an expert in upper limb surgery as I have a done fellowships in shoulder and elbow and a Master in Hand and Wrist surgery.

I graduated at the University of Bari in 1992. After completion of my general surgical training, I continued my higher orthopaedic training at the same university. I spent periods of visiting fellowship at the Danderyd Hospital - Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden and at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles, USA, where I started research into shoulder arthroscopy and open shoulder surgery.

From 1999 to 2000 I was appointed shoulder surgery fellow at the Reading Shoulder Unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital under Stephen Copeland and Ofer Levy. Here I gained vast experience in shoulder and elbow surgery. In 2000, after completion of my fellowship at the Reading Shoulder Unit, I returned to Italy and was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Madonna delle Grazie Hospital in Matera, Italy, as head of the shoulder and elbow unit. In 2006 I moved to Bari and I was head of the shoulder and elbow unit at Policlinico di Bari, University Hospital. 

I have attended the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA for the full 5-year course of teach the teachers and for visiting fellowships under S O'Driscoll and B Morrey, to improve my knowledge and clinical practice in elbow surgery.

In October 2004 I joined the Reading Shoulder Unit. In 2007, I was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Worcestershire NHS Trust, where I worked until 2015 as Shoulder and Elbow Consultant. In 2025 I moved to full private practice and since 2018 I have been an upper limb consultant at the Schoen/Fortius Clinic in London.

Special clinical interests: rotator cuff tear, subacromial impingement, frozen shoulder, trauma and sports injuries, muscle or ligament sprain, acute fractures and non-union, acromioclavicular joint injuries, osteoarthritis of the upper limb, shoulder instability, tennis and golfer's elbow, elbow stiffness and instability, loose bodies and osteoarthritis of the elbow, paediatric shoulder injuries. hand and wrist pathologies: carpal tunnel, Dupuytren's syndrome, wrist osteoarthritis and instability, wrist ganglion, mucoid cyst.

To date I have performed more than 350 shoulder arthroplasty and carried out over 8,000 arthroscopic procedures on shoulders, elbow, wrist and knees in both my NHS and Private practice.
