Having graduated from Oxford University I completed my initial general medical training in London. I then spent five years training in Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital followed by two years in Leeds.

I have been the Cancer Lead at the Berkshire Cancer Centre, Reading between 1994 to 2017 and the Clinical Director between 2011 and 2017.

I sit on the faculty board of the Royal College of Radiologists.

I am a major contributor to national randomised trials investigating gastro-intestinal and lung cancer.

I have been involved in medical education throughout my career, as tutor, educational supervisor and Deputy Regional Advisor. I was an examiner for the FRCR between 2006 and 2012.

I am on the steering committee for, and investor in, the Windsor Diagnostic and Oncology Centre. In the past I have accepted sponsorship from drug companies, to attend international oncology seminars. I no longer do so. I have no financial relationship with any pharmaceutical company.
