Professor Ashley Blom
MBChB, MD, PhD, FRCS, FRCS (Tr&Orth)
I have been rated by Expertscape as one of the top 10 experts in the world on hip replacement and the leading expert outside of the USA. I have published over 300 scientific papers mainly focused on how to perform joint replacement as safely and effectively as possible. I specialise in both hip replacement and revision hip replacement for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. I provide a fast, friendly and efficient service focused on the individual needs of each patient.
I am a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of both the British and European Hip Societies. I was awarded two doctoral degrees by the University of Bristol, one in making artificial bone from ceramics and the other in preventing infection after joint replacements. I am currently leading a £2million government funded research programme into improving the patients' experience of joint replacement. The first phase of this is a trial into decreasing peri-operative pain.
I have published over 50 peer review scientific articles on various aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery in leading international journals.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Professor Ashley Blom at Spire include:

COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Bristol Hospital.
I am happily married to Catalina Estela, who is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Bristol.
