You’ve probably given your body a hard time over the Christmas break but January is the month to Love Your Liver!
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Miss Zoe Winters at Spire include:
Breast cancer diagnosis (clinical and imaging using ultrasound)
Breast conserving surgery using cosmetic techniques
Intra-operative radiotherapy at time of surgery to avoid whole breast radiotherapy
Immediate Implant and biological sling breast reconstruction
Immediate Pedicle flap breast reconstruction
Sentinel lymph node diagnosis using dual localisation
I have established a “highly reputable” clinical practice in oncoplastic breast surgery techniques over the past 17 years within University teaching Hospitals in South Africa, Oxford and Bristol with tertiary referrals of complex cases and second opinions.
I have an established practice in symptomatic and screen-detected breast cancers reviewing over 650 patients annually. I have extensive clinical experience (over 250) in types of immediate breast reconstruction after mastectomy for breast cancer such as: combined back flap-implant and back flap tissue only techniques, biological sling-implant only (over 50) and complex types of breast conserving reduction mammoplasties (over 30) used for larger cancers or more than one breast cancer in the same breast in order to optimise cosmetic results.
Women recommended for radiotherapy after mastectomy are also given the opportunity to undergo temporary two-stage breast reconstructive approaches. Also I facilitate immediate micro-vascular breast reconstructions working alongside the best Consultant plastic surgeons in the country.
I have developed an extensive photographic database of my breast reconstruction results for the purposes of best informing my individual patients results.
The national mastectomy and breast reconstruction audit showed that my patients scored their satisfaction with cosmetic outcomes in the 95th percentile. My return to theatre rates are extremely low at 3%.
I have also developed ready to use experience of administering a targeted dose of radiotherapy over 10 minutes during surgery at the time of lumpectomy in collaboration with top oncologists in the field. I am an expert in dual localisation sentinel lymph node biopsy and sit on the Trial Management Group for the UK trial on positive sentinel lymph nodes (POSNOC).
My sentinel lymph node biopsy audit data (2005-2010) in 132 women showed that I achieved 95% detection rates removing on average 2.8 nodes at a time with a false negative rate of 4.6% well below national averages. A snapshot NHS patient satisfaction survey in September 2016 scored patient’s satisfaction with my care as “excellent” by 10 out of 13 patients surveyed and “very good” by 3 out of the 13 women.
