Specialises in
I have been working in private practice since 2006. I established The Parent Support Service also in this year.
I qualified with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2006. Prior to this I studied for an MSc in Health Psychology and a BA (Hons) in Psychology with European Study. I now run Bristol Psychology Services, a referral service for private psychological therapy in Bristol. I also work at Cardiff University on the South Wales Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology as a Senior Research Tutor and Honorary Lecturer.
I am a Clinical Psychologist who provides evidence based psychological therapy for adults. I am experienced in providing third wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Third wave cognitive therapy are evidence based therapy approaches which, rather than focusing on just reducing emotional symptoms, aim to help people to lead more satisfying, meaningful lives.
I also provide Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am a EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. EMDR is a well-researched psychological treatment approach which aims to reduce the distressing impact of difficult memories following traumatic life events.
I have presented at national conferences on the psychological impact of trauma and provided numerous workshops on psychological care to medical professionals.
I have written for several national magazines and spoken on BBC radio Bristol. I have a strong research background and have published a number of scientific papers in peer reviewed journals.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and chartered through the British Psychological Society. I am registered as an approved provider with AVIVA, AXA PPP and Vitality.
