Hospital welcomes new consultant - Dr Akhtar

Doctor Asim Akhtar, a GP based currently at Blaydon Primary Care, is now seeing patients at Spire Washington every Monday morning.
Dr Akhtar is the husband of Spire Washington’s current private GP Doctor Maria Finnegan, and has joined the team following the success of her clinics with which began just under 12 months ago.
He said: “I am very excited to be joining the team at Spire Washington who is dedicated to providing high quality patient centred care.
“It’s great to be working alongside a fantastic team and offer patients more appointments at a time to suit them.”
Laura Farley, Business Development Manager at Spire Washington Hospital, said: “Our initial private GP clinic has been such a success, we decided to bring Doctor Akhtar on board to be able to offer more appointments to our patients. To have a husband and wife team on board, and be able to work closely with each of them, means we have an even better passage of communication between our team and the patient, which enables us to offer an even more efficient service.”
