We visited Spire Thames Valley hospital on 9 May 2017 for my son's long awaited major surgery. We were very apprehensive as we knew what this visit entailed. As we had travelled such a long way and surgery was due to be performed at 7am, we were allowed to arrive the night before as his room would be ready. Although I wasn't allowed to sleep over, I was welcome to come and stay all day. The receptionists, nurses and consultant were all extremely friendly and professional. They explained everything to us in detail and made his stay as comfortable as possible. He was treated with dignity and the utmost respect at all times. It was my birthday on the day of his surgery and one of the nurses shared the same birthday as me and even bought me a card and some flowers which I was extremely touched by. As it was such a major surgery, he had to stay a week in hospital but the staff were amazing with him, helping him every step of the way. We had complete trust and confidence in the consultant and their surgeon.
