Mr Vish Kumar

I was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon at Wye Valley NHS Trust in 2021. Prior to this, I held fixed-term Consultant posts at Cambridge University Hospitals and Buckinghamshire NHS Trust. I am dual-fellowship trained surgeon with 20 years of orthopaedic experience combined. My fellowship experience is from King's College Hospital, London and Wrightington Hospital, Centres of Excellence for orthopaedic surgery.

My clinical practice covers full range of foot and ankle surgery including arthritis treatment, complex trauma, deformity correction, arthroscopy, arthroplasty and minimally invasive procedures (MIS). In addition, I treat sports and dance injuries. I also specialise in Diabetic Foot  Syndromes and undertake complex Charcot Foot Reconstructive surgery.

I have proven track record of participation in National Audits and Quality Improvement (QI) projects including NHS England commissioned external audits.

I am GIRFT Outpatients Transformation OP Lead in my NHS Trust. (GIRFT- Getting It Right First Time). I am a trained Trust Appraiser for Consultants for their Revalidation in my Trust. I am GMC-approved Clinical Supervisor (CS) for Higher Orthopaedic Trainees of Oswestry/Stoke Orthopaedic Training Programme.

I have successfully graduated BOA accredited National Clinical Leaders Programme. I have keen interest in medical education and surgical training. I am regular on faculty for Cambridge FRCS Orth Basic Science Revision Course.

I am acknowledged reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ) and JCOT. I have several publications as first author indexed on PubMed. I have undertaken numerous research in the field of orthopaedics in UK & Australia and disseminated my research by presenting in national and international meetings.
