Treatment restrictions due to coronavirus (COVID-19)

As part of our longstanding relationship, we are proud to be dedicating our resources to the NHS at this important time. As a result many of our treatments are currently suspended and we are reviewing all planned procedures and consultations. We are making every effort to talk to impacted patients and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Professional profile

In 2008, I was appointed to Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon. I have established the complex glaucoma surgical service for the county of Worcestershire. I am interested in laser treatment for glaucoma, and glaucoma surgery including modern trabeculectomy with mitomycin-c.

Once I qualified as a medical doctor, I joined a three-year residency training programme in ophthalmology. I carried out my prospective randomised study on glaucoma surgery and on completion, was awarded the degree of MD in ophthalmology in 1994. I received training in Ophthalmology at Birmingham Eye Hospital, Oxford Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where I held the post of Specialist Registrar and Senior Glaucoma Fellow.

My interest is in glaucoma investigations (disc imaging) and treatments including lasers, glaucoma surgery including modern trabeculectomy with adjunctive therapies and glaucoma drainage implant surgery. My research interests are in the quality of life in glaucoma, cataract surgery in complex glaucoma and modern glaucoma surgical techniques.

I published the world’s first paper on 5-FU in phacoemulsification to protect functioning glaucoma operation. I have published more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers. I have been an active faculty member in various training workshops in glaucoma and regularly deliver invited lectures on these and other subjects at both home and abroad.
