I am an expert in diagnosing and delivering new treatments for Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Vein Occlusions and other macular conditions. I am experienced in Phacoemulsification cataract surgery and routinely deal with complex cases.
I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, treating patients at the Royal Worcestershire Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. I am also the Acute Eye Services Lead for the Kidderminster Treatment Centre. I have fellowships from Birmingham and Wolverhampton in medical retinal diseases as well as ocular inflammatory problems. When I was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, I led a team of fellows, specialty doctors, trainees and specialist nurses in evaluating and treating complex medical retina problems.
I have also trained several doctors to perform cataract surgery and I take an active part in lecturing medical students, junior doctors, optometrists and GP colleagues.
I have organised regional symposia, grand rounds and lectures. I have been involved in several research trials for Age Related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy and I am one of the Principal Investigators for the COMRADE trial comparing the safety and efficacy of intravitreal Lucentis® versus intravitreal Ozurdex® implant in Retinal Vein Occlusions.
