Mr Melwyn Pereira

I am a specialist Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeon based at Redditch and Kidderminster Hospitals, providing expert orthopaedic care for patients across Worcester and Worcestershire.

My clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and surgical management of foot and ankle conditions, including forefoot, hindfoot, and ankle surgery, with particular expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures.

My specialist interests include forefoot, hindfoot, and ankle surgery, the use of arthroscopic techniques, the assessment and surgical management of diabetic foot problems, and the treatment of traumatic and degenerative conditions affecting the foot and ankle, supporting safe, effective, and comprehensive orthopaedic care for patients throughout Worcestershire.

I studied medicine at the University of Bombay, India, before completing a postgraduate residency in Trauma and Orthopaedics. I subsequently worked as a Lecturer in Orthopaedics at a University Teaching Hospital in Bombay, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

I was later selected to train in the United Kingdom under the Overseas Doctor’s Training Scheme of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I completed higher specialist training as a Specialist Registrar in London and South East England, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore rotation, one of the UK’s leading tertiary orthopaedic centres.

In 2002, I was appointed as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Redditch and Kidderminster Hospitals, where I continue to provide specialist foot and ankle services for patients in Worcester, Redditch, Kidderminster, and the wider Worcestershire region.

I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery Society (BOFAS), reflecting my commitment to specialist foot and ankle practice and ongoing professional development.
