I am a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Specialist Spinal Surgeon serving Worcester, Worcestershire, and Birmingham, with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex spinal and neurosurgical conditions. I specialise in managing back pain, neck pain, sciatica, spinal stenosis, disc herniation, and hydrocephalus, as well as brain tumours and head injuries.
I provide NHS and private spinal surgery services in Worcester, using the latest evidence‑based techniques with a strong emphasis on minimally invasive and keyhole spinal surgery to optimise outcomes and recovery.
I assess and treat a wide range of spinal and neurological conditions, including chronic lower back pain, cervical spine disorders, nerve compression, degenerative spine disease, spinal instability, and trauma. My surgical practice focuses on modern, minimally invasive approaches designed to reduce pain, limit tissue damage, and support faster rehabilitation.
Procedures I routinely perform include minimally invasive spinal surgery, microdiscectomy, lumbar decompression, lumbar spine surgery, spinal fusion, cervical spine surgery, anterior and lateral spinal surgery, and intradural spinal surgery. All treatment plans are individually tailored following detailed imaging review and multidisciplinary discussion.
In my NHS role at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, I have pioneered minimally invasive spinal surgery, introducing innovative techniques that have improved patient outcomes and reduced hospital stays for patients from Worcester and across the region.
I obtained my MBBS from the Royal Free and University College Medical School, alongside a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience from UCL. I completed my neurosurgical residency on the North and South Thames London rotation, achieving FRCS (Neuro Surg), followed by two internationally recognised complex spine fellowships at The Royal London Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, gaining comprehensive neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal training.
I have published widely in international journals and was awarded an MPhil from the University of Cambridge in 2017 as the top‑ranked candidate, with Medical Research Council funding. I regularly present at national and international conferences and have received multiple academic awards. I am also committed to education and training, having served as Education Lead for the British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS) Trainee Committee.
My approach to care is holistic, evidence‑based, and patient‑focused, ensuring patients are fully informed of all appropriate non‑operative and surgical options. I am committed to treating every patient with clarity, compassion, and respect.
If you are seeking a highly experienced consultant neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon in Worcester or Birmingham, I offer expert, personalised care using advanced minimally invasive techniques.
