Dr Stephen O'Hickey

I am a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and Clinical Allergy based in Worcester, providing specialist care for patients with respiratory and allergic conditions across Worcester and Worcestershire.

I completed my specialist training in Respiratory Medicine and Clinical Allergy at Guy’s Hospital, London, and was awarded an MD thesis in Asthma and Exercise, underpinning my long‑standing academic and clinical interest in asthma management and respiratory physiology.

My clinical practice focuses on clinical allergy and chronic respiratory disease, including COPD and emphysema, with a particular interest in allergen desensitisation, immunotherapy, and pulmonary rehabilitation.

I have extensive experience in clinical allergy testing, especially for allergic asthma and rhino‑sinusitis, supporting accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment strategies for patients in Worcester.

In addition, I have a broad interest in lung disease and respiratory pathology, including the assessment and management of interstitial lung disease (ILD) and other complex respiratory conditions.

My approach aims to improve symptom control, functional capacity, and quality of life for patients with chronic and structural lung disease across Worcestershire.

In 1993, I was appointed as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Solihull Hospital.

In 1997, I was subsequently offered a post in Respiratory Medicine and Allergy at Worcester Royal Hospital, where I have continued to provide specialist respiratory and allergy services to the local population.

Based at Worcester Royal Hospital, my consultant practice supports both general respiratory medicine and specialist allergy services, contributing to integrated, patient‑centred care throughout Worcester and the wider Worcestershire area.
