I am the head of general surgery at East Cheshire NHS Trust. I have led the development of laparoscopic colorectal surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS). I have also developed day case gall bladder surgery. My special interests are colorectal, laparoscopic and endoscopy.
I trained in Ireland and England in surgery, I worked as registrar and senior registrar for five years in the North West Thames rotation. I also worked as an RSO at the world famous St Mark's Hospital for Intestinal Diseases, London. I have been on the Specialist register since May 1999. I have worked as a consultant surgeon in England and overseas since 1999, before taking up a substantive appointment as a consultant surgeon in gastro-enterology in Macclesfield in June 2005.
I have extensive expertise in colorectal and general surgery, with specialist experience in bowel disease management, proctology, colonoscopy, gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, stoma complications, perianal disorders, haemmorhoid banding, pilonidal sinus disease, rectal prolapse, keyhole gallbladder removal surgery and surgical management of lumps and bumps.
