I work as a colorectal and laparoscopic surgeon at the Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and privately at the Spire Regency, Spire Manchester and Spire Cheshire Hospitals. I practice laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery for benign and malignant colorectal conditions. I have introduced laparoscopic colorectal surgery and enhanced recovery programme at the Christie having previously established the set up in a similar service at the Leighton Hospital in Crewe.
I also train other consultants and specialist registrars in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and am one of the national trainers through the department of health sponsored programme (http://www.lapco.nhs.uk). I am also an accredited colonoscopist for the national bowel cancer screening programme and offer regular diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopises. I practice minimally invasive and relatively painless treatment for haemorrhoids and I am involved in training (HALO/THD) (http://www.thdlab.co.uk). I also offer laparoscopic surgery for abdominal wall hernias.
I trained in the North West region of UK, and did a year of advanced colorectal clinical fellowship at the Mayo clinic, Rochester to learn minimally invasive colorectal surgery and spent two years of clinical research at University College London. I also visited IRCAD centre in Strasbourg and University of Chicago as a travelling fellow to widen my clinical experience.
I am one of the regional surgical advisers for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and I am involved in conducting teaching programmes and courses locally. I am also a examiner at the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh. I hold an honorary lecturer contract with the University of Liverpool.
I'm the national trainer for laparoscopic colorectal surgery and accredited colonoscopist for bowel cancer screening programme.
I perform excision of skin lesions, repairs all types of abdominal hernias including laparoscopic repairs (TEP) and cholecystectomy.
