Mr Carroll qualified at the Royal London Hospital in 1995 and did his basic surgical training in London and South East England. Specialist interests include total hip/knee replacement and further revision procedures. He also has an interest in joint replacement in younger patients. Other interests include infection, recurrent dislocation and periprosthetic fractures.
In 2000 he was appointed to the Registrar rotation in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the Mersey Region. He spent the last two years of his training sub-specialising in hip and knee surgery including one year as a fellow at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Carroll performs around 200 joint replacements a year. His National Joint Register, (NJR) data shows five year revision rates for hip and knee surgery are both below the national average.
