I provide a diagnostic & management service for neurological disorders & have considerable experience in all general neurology including headache, tremor, parkinson’s disease, epilepsy & blackouts. My sub-speciality interest is in neuromuscular disorders – disorders of muscle & nerve & gait disorders. I have also a specialist interest in inherited neuromuscular disorders.

Professional profile

I have been a Consultant Neurologist for 11 yrs & have considerable experience in medicine, having worked in the NHS since 1993. I have broad experience in all neurological disorders & particular expertise in neuromusclar disorders. I have run the mersey training programme for neurology since 2011. My research interests include inflammatory neuropathy, myasthenia gravis & my doctorate of medicine was awarded for work on respiratory muscle function & sleep in motor neurone disease.

I have considerable experience in the diagnosis & management across a broad range of acute & chronic neurological conditions. I run 3 NHS clinics per week, 2 of which are neuromuscular clinics with mdt support that have been awarded centre of excellence status.

As above – I am the programme director for neurology higher specialist training in the Mersey section of the north-west deanery. I am the north-west representative for neurology training at the speciality advisory committee, Royal College of Physicians, London. I am the adult lead for neuromsucular disorders at Walton centre & the north-west neuromuscualr network
