Specialises in

  • Ankle arthroscopy
  • Bunion removal and treatment
  • Keyhole bunion surgery
  • Heel pain
  • Trauma to the foot and ankle

I am a highly qualified fellowship-trained expert in all problems relating to the foot and ankle. I specialise in foot and ankle problems, including bunions/hallux valgus, big toe arthritis, complex deformity corrections, arthritis surgery and sports related foot and ankle disease.

In addition, I have overseen a regional heel pain clinic for the last seven years, specialising in conditions such as Achilles tendon disorders and plantar fasciitis. I use modern techniques including keyhole surgery such as arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques and non-invasive techniques such as shockwave therapy and Botox injections whenever appropriate.

In the last eight years, I have achieved both national and international recognition in foot and ankle research, winning 16 national and international prizes. I was awarded the Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2020 for my work on ankle fractures. I have won the Chan Cheng memorial prize, the highest award from the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) on three separate occasions.

I am the elected chair of the BOFAS Outcomes Committee chair, taking responsibility for the national foot and ankle registry. I am an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool, where I am the undergraduate lead in musculoskeletal disease and orthopaedics for the School of Medicine.
