I'm a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at The Royal Liverpool University and Broadgreen Hospitals, where I specialise in lower limb arthroplasty (hip and knee joint replacement), especially primary and revision knee arthroplasty.
After being educated at Gillsland Park Preparatory School and The Edinburgh Academy I gained my primary medical qualification at The University of Sheffield. A fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Surgeons of England, I passed the intercollegiate exam in Orthopaedics and Trauma (FRCS Tr & Orth) in 2002 and gained entry to the Specialist Register in Orthopaedics in February 2004. My higher training in orthopaedics was on the Liverpool Mersey Orthopaedic rotation and involved a year at Wrightington Hospital and a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow sponsored travelling fellowship to visit Dr Leo Whiteside in St Louis, USA.

I'm married and live in Cheshire with my three sons, which keeps me very busy.
In my spare time I'm a keen fencer, having been captain of both school and university teams. I coache junior rugby at Winnington Park Rugby Club and enjoy skiing and supporting my children in various ski race competitions. I hold a PADI advanced open water diver qualification and enjoy hill-climbing especially Munro-Bagging. I'm also a lifetime ticket holder of seats at Murrayfield so I can follow Scotland’s rugby internationals.Back to top
