I graduated in 1996 from Trivandrum Medical College in India. I then completed my basic surgical training in South Wales and research fellowship in Birmingham, completing my Higher Surgical Training Programme in Liverpool with a special interest in Colorectal Surgery. After completing my specialist training I spent 18 months as a Laparoscopic (keyhole) Fellow in Perth Western Australia and when I returned to the UK in 2010 I was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgeon in St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust. Since my appointment I have established a keyhole surgery service for both benign and malignant disease of the small bowel, colon and rectum. I have one of the highest resection rates for bowel cancer in the North West.

I perform more than 50 laparoscopic colorectal operations and over 130 laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a year, (removal of the gallbladder). I also perform the Trans-Anal Endoscopic Operation (TEO) which is a keyhole operation to remove small benign tumours or polyps from the back passage and offer the Trans-Anal Haemorrhiodal De-arterialisation (THD) otherwise known as the painless piles operation.

In a short period of time I have taken up the role of Lead Clinician for colorectal Cancer Services in NHS trust. I am actively involved in teaching and I am currently a faculty member for the surgical courses conducted in the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
