Dr Ben Thompson

I treat a wide variety of conditions, including eczema, acne, psoriasis, rosacea and other inflammatory skin disorders, as well as providing skin cancer checks, lesion assessment and minor skin surgery. I have a particular interest in advanced treatments, including biologic therapies and clinical trials for more severe skin conditions.

I completed my medical training at the University of Liverpool and went on to gain experience in both paediatrics and dermatology within the Mersey region. I now work across both adult and paediatric dermatology services, allowing me to care for patients of all ages.

Alongside my clinical work, I hold senior leadership roles, including Dermatology Clinical Director within Liverpool University Hospitals and Educational Lead at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. I am also actively involved in research and teaching, contributing to developments in dermatology and training future clinicians.

I understand how much skin conditions can affect confidence and quality of life, so I take time to listen carefully and provide clear, practical advice tailored to each patient.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, as well as keeping active, cooking and listening to music.
