I am a specialist in colorectal surgery and have a special interest in the management of inflammatory bowel disorders. In addition to my specialist work, I also treat common clinical conditions like fistulae, haemorrhoids and rectal bleeding. I also perform colonoscopies and laparoscopic surgery.
I graduated from MKCG Medical College in 1986. Following a national selection process, I got an admission to specialist training in general surgery in VSS Medical College Hospital in 1988. I obtained my Master's degree in general surgery in 1991. I submitted a thesis on Hydatidosis and was awarded MS general surgery in 1991. I also conducted a research project on splenectomy for sickle cell disorder and wrote a thesis with Prof B P Mishra, this was awarded a national prize for research.
I joined Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi as a Surgical Registrar with a special interest in gastrointestinal surgery. My exposure to surgery and especially to trauma was very good in the tertiary centre and this developed my experience further.
