I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for over 22 years. I specialise in primary hip and knee replacements and revision hip and knee surgery. I have been doing revision hip and knee surgery for the last 15-18 years. I specialise in uncemented primary and revision hip surgery. I also undertake arthroscopic surgery of knees including meniscectomy and reconstruction of the torn anterior cruciate ligament.

I undertake approximately 50 primary hip and 50 primary knee replacements annually. To date, I have performed approximately 1,000 hip and 1,000 knee replacements. I undertake the arthroscopic reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament using 4-strand hamstring grafts. I perform 15-20 revision hip and up to five revision knee replacements annually.

My basic surgical training took place in Bombay and included hepatobiliary, plastic and neurosurgery. I was awarded Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bombay in 1979. I became a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of India in 1981. I acquired FRCS in 1989 from Glasgow and MCh Orth in 1991 from the University of Liverpool. My higher surgical training took place at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and St Thomas' and Guy's Hospital in London between 1991 and 1996. I was then appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull Hospital in 1996.

I have been a Clinical Lead for Solihull Hospital for two years, Trauma Lead for Heartlands Hospital for three years, and Educational Lead for two years. I was also a lead for Enhanced Recovery Programme for joint replacements.

I was an honorary lecturer for the University of Birmingham. I also participate in specialist registrar training for the University of Coventry and Warwick. I have been a panel member for RITAs and consultant interviews.
