I have been qualified as specialist general and colorectal surgeon in 2009 and I have been working as consultant surgeon in the UK since 2012. I am specialising in the surgical treatment of colorectal disease including cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and proctology. I perform regularly laparoscopic (key hole) bowel surgery. I also perform endoscopic procedures including diagnostic gastroscopies, diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies. In addition I perform general surgical procedures, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy and hernia surgery.
My specialist interest lies in the treatment of bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease with open and laparoscopic (key hole) approach. I also specialise in the treatment and management of benign proctological disease, such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure and pilonidal sinus disease. I offer THD/HALO surgery for haemorrhoids. I also perform laparoscopic (key hole) gallbladder surgery and hernia surgery (open and laparoscopic).
To date I have performed a large number of operations over a period of 15 years mostly n the British and Australian NHS. To date I have performed over 450 colonic resections (including over 100 laparoscopic bowel resections), 400 hernia operations, 300 laparotomies / laparoscopies (including diagnostic), 400 appendicectomies, 250 cholecystectomies and 900 colonoscopies.
I am the core member of lower GI cancer multidisciplinary team, Queen's Hospital, Burton upon Trent. I am also the clinical lead for National Audit of Small Bowel Obstruction at Queen's Hospital, Burton.
I am also the clinical supervisor for foundation year and middle grade doctors, including Specialty Training doctors.
