I qualified from a prestigious medical college in South India in 2001. I obtained my postgraduate qualification (Membership of the Royal College of Physicians) in 2005. Since then, I have trained in cardiology acquiring all the necessary skills to specialise in coronary intervention, general cardiology and sports cardiology.
I have performed over 1,500 percutaneous coronary intervention and have trained in some of the world-renowned units (Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, Imperial College, London and San Raffaelle Hospital, Milan). I directly trained under Professor Antonio Colombo (a world-renowned interventional cardiologist) learning all the tips and tricks of coronary intervention.
As a consultant, I have performed over 600 cases during which I have also supervised specialist registrars. I have a special interest in opening chronically occluded coronary arteries and I have acquired this skill over the last four years. I have links with Japan and have been running workshops at Heartlands since 2014.
I have researched on athletes' hearts and obtained a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from King’s College London in 2011. My research answered one of the important questions in sports cardiology by assessing the ethnic differences in left ventricular remodelling between Caucasian athletes and athletes of African/ Afro-Caribbean origin. I have assessed over 3,000 athletes by performing ECG and echocardiogram during my research years and fully competent in evaluating the cardiovascular system of athletes or any individual who undertakes regular physical training.

I have a great family life with my beloved wife and two children. I try to keep a balance between my work and family, which I feel is essential for longevity in a professional career. I love sporting activities such as running, badminton and skiing. Being a cardiologist, I advise my patients to lead a healthy lifestyle and I lead by example. I recently completed a half-marathon with my personal best timing of 1 hour 40 mins.
