I was appointed as a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead in February 2003. I am the lead clinician for the Multidisciplinary Pain Service. Having trained in Anaesthesia and Pain Management at Leicester and Newcastle, I also undertook a Diploma in Pain Management at the University of Cardiff. This training provided me with a broad based multidisciplinary training in Pain Management and I apply an evidenced based bio psychosocial approach in my assessment and management of pain patients.
I treat all aspects of chronic pain and perform a wide range of pain intervention techniques including Epidurals, Trigger point injections, Medial branch block and Radiofrequency lesioning for the treatment of back pain patients. I also undertake medico legal work.
Research interests: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Treatment of Neuropathic pain, Efficacy of Radiofrequency lesioning in back pain.
