Professional profile

I qualified at UCD in Ireland in 1990. I was awarded the gold medal in medicine for a first class honour in that subject. I undertook a PhD in Leeds and started as a consultant in 2000.

My work on psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis is internationally known and I am developing a website for patients to better understand these diseases.

This work covers research into diverse conditions including the seronegative arthropathies, gout and pseudogout, lupus, vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatica, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
