Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Martin Stone at Spire include:
Revision hip and knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement
I was appointed John Charnley Hip Fellow to Professor Wroblewski in 1990. Since my consultant appointment in 1992 I have run a joint replacement register and have advised the government on the new national hip register.
I developed the first Leeds pre-admission home screening and discharge planning of joint replacement patients in 1992 and set up a patient telephone help line at the Chapel Allerton Hospital hip centre in 1996.
In 1998, I was advisor to the British Orthopaedic Association on the 'Best practice in hip surgery'. I am the organiser of a UK travelling hip concepts group and between 1998-2000, I run an international hip training facility at Leeds General Infirmary (1998-2000).
I have been a member of the regular faculty of British Revision Hip Course, Royal College of Surgeons Revision Hip course, Leeds Practical Hip and Knee course, and Leeds Orthopaedic Biomechanics course.
I currently train a clinical hip fellow and supervise several PhD bioengineering students with the University of Leeds. I am involved in UK and international research projects.
In 2000 I began the annual consultant Yorkshire arthroplasty meeting. I am a member of the LMBRU (Leeds Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit) funded by the National Institute for Health Research.
The majority of my caseload at Spire Leeds Hospital is the same as my caseload at Leeds General Infirmary ie primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery and arthroscopy.
