After graduating from Cambridge University and Manchester University, I trained in Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds. I also visited a unit in Copenhagen that specialises in enhanced recovery after large bowel surgery. My specialist interests also include surgery for complex incisional hernias, intestinal complications of radiotherapy and pilonidal sinus disease. I conduct specialist clinics at LGI for teenagers who require follow-up into adulthood and patients with radiation enteritis. I am lead clinician for colorectal surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. I am also a trainer in abdominal wall reconstruction for three UK/European companies who manufacture synthetic and biologic mesh for incisional hernia repair.
