Dr Jonathan Power
Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine
MBChB MRCGP MFSEM
Specialises in
I am a consultant in sport and exercise medicine (and Fellow of the faculty of sport and exercise medicine) and currently work in professional sport with England football and in sport and exercise medicine clinics in the UK and internationally.
I have experience in the management of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries across all age ranges and levels of physical activity.
I have worked extensively in professional sport and aim to apply the same high standards required in the elite athletic environment to all of my patient assessments.
Your assessment and treatment plan will be focused towards your individual goals. Great care is taken in explaining the problem to enhance your understanding. Full access to a range of diagnostics such as same day ultrasound scans, MRI and CT is available. Whilst many problems can be resolved without an operation, I have close links with surgical colleagues locally and nationwide.
I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2001 and subsequently gained an MSc in sport and exercise medicine from the University of Nottingham where I gained a distinction.
I completed my specialist training in Yorkshire and was awarded the Macleod Medal for best performance in the faculty of sport and exercise medicine diploma exam.
Previous posts in professional sports include working with England rugby, Team GB at the London Olympics and Australian Youth Olympics, and I was previously head of medical services for Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie.
