Professional profile

I hold the posts of Consultant Cardiologist, Visiting Professor and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer. I hold posts at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust, University of Hertfordshire and Imperial College, London. Having qualified at St Bartholomew's, London, I undertook my cardiology training at the Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, Royal Free, St Thomas' and St Mary's Hospitals. I have two higher postgraduate degrees, a post doctoral MD from Imperial College and a post-doctoral PhD from King's College London. I am the Clinical Director of Cardiac Services at East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. I see patients with all types of heart disease, including angina, palpitations, hypertension, heart failure and valvular heart disease. I perform coronary angiography and angioplasty procedures, including complex coronary intervention and pacemaker implantation. In the NHS, I teach and train junior doctors in these techniques. My research interests are in thrombosis and coronary angioplasty. I head up the cardiology research group at East and North Herts and am actively engaged with research and teaching both at Imperial College and at University of Hertfordshire. I have been published extensively in peer-reviewed, high impact, international journals and these are available in the public domain on PubMed.
