MBBS, MRCOG
I have been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist since 2021. I specialise in urogynaecology, the care of bladder problems and prolapse, and in benign gynaecology, as well as pelvic health during and after pregnancy. Many of the problems I treat are common, yet women often wait years before asking for help. Nothing you tell me will surprise or embarrass me. My aim is that every woman leaves her appointment knowing what is going on and what her choices are. Surgery is one option among several, and for many women physiotherapy, medicine or a pessary works well. When an operation is the right choice, I explain what it involves and its benefits and risks in plain language, and give you time to decide.
I specialise in urogynaecology and general gynaecology. I treat bladder problems, including stress incontinence, overactive bladder and repeated urine infections; pelvic organ prolapse; pelvic floor problems after childbirth, including recovery after a third or fourth degree tear; heavy, painful or irregular periods; fibroids and polyps; endometriosis and pelvic pain; and the menopause, including HRT. Treatments I offer include pelvic floor physiotherapy, vaginal pessaries, bladder Botox, urethral bulking (Bulkamid), colposuspension, pelvic floor repair, vaginal hysterectomy, sacrospinous fixation, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation (NovaSure), myomectomy, hysterectomy and keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery. I also see women with pain during sex and other sexual problems, which are often linked to prolapse, the menopause or recovery after childbirth.
In the last year alone I performed around 200 operations and saw nearly 1,000 women in clinic. My operations included over 50 prolapse repairs, among them 18 vaginal hysterectomies; around 20 colposuspension operations for stress incontinence; bladder Botox injections; around 30 keyhole (laparoscopic) operations for pelvic pain, endometriosis and ovarian cysts; hysteroscopies with removal of polyps and endometrial ablation; abdominal hysterectomies and myomectomy; and over 50 caesarean sections. I trained in obstetrics and gynaecology in the East of England, at Watford General Hospital, the Lister Hospital in Stevenage and Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, and I have been a consultant at Luton and Dunstable since 2021. Feedback from my patients is consistently positive. Women describe feeling listened to and clearly informed, and many tell me they wish they had sought help sooner.
At Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust I am the Clinical Lead for the Perinatal Pelvic Health Service and the OASI Service, and an RCOG College Tutor. I am a member of the British Society of Urogynaecology, the International Urogynecological Association and the International Continence Society. I see private patients at Spire Harpenden Hospital and at The Cobham Clinic, Luton, through my practice Jey Women's Health (www.jeywomenshealth.com).
