Specialises in

  • Bunions / Hallux valgus
  • Hallux rigidus
  • Hammer Toes
  • Metatarsalgia / Neuroma
  • Minimally invasive surgery

I have worked in my current NHS post since 1997 and was appointed to Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in 2001. I specialise in forefoot, midfoot and superficial rearfoot surgery. My particular interests are big toe joint implant arthroplasty and minimally invasive surgery of chronic metatarsalgia, bunions and the flexible flatfoot.

Annually, I perform over 590 foot procedures and am happy to provide care under local anaesthesia utilising ultrasound guided techniques or general anaesthesia. Audit is important within my practice; PASCOM-10 and Manchester Oxford Foot Questionnaire completed by my patient’s pre and post-surgery show a statistically significant improvement across the three domains of Walking/standing, Pain and Social interaction.

Originally qualifying as a clinical podiatrist in 1988, I undertook further training and examination in podiatric surgery and gained the Award of Fellowship of The College of Podiatrists (surgery) – FCPodS in 1994. Later that year I completed a foot and ankle residency under the guidance of renowned Podiatrist, Dr Gary Dockery, DPM, Seattle, USA, and in 2007, completed training in extra-osseous talotarsal stabilization (EOTTS) surgery with HyProCure at the Graham International Implant Institute. I am an independent prescriber and a registered surgical tutor and peer reviewer for the Faculty of Surgery, College of Podiatrists.

My Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) number is CH10069.

Choosing a foot care specialist

Every doctor, nurse, physiotherapist or other health professional has specific skills and qualifications. They can only provide care that fits within those skills and rules set by their profession. For foot care specialists this means:

  • Podiatrists - They diagnose and treat problems with your feet and lower limbs (they are not medical doctors). They can provide advice, prescribe certain medications and carry out non-surgical treatments
  • Podiatric Consultants - These are highly experienced podiatrists (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions, using a range of non-surgical treatments
  • Consultant Podiatric Surgeons - They are podiatrists who have completed additional training (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions using a range of non-surgical treatments and perform some surgical procedures
