Specialises in

I am a senior expert in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic injuries and complaints of the limbs and spine. I have 20 years experience treating NHS, military and private patients, as well as elite sportsmen and women of all abilities and ages. Using my unique breadth of training and postgraduate qualifications in surgery, orthopaedics, rheumatology, general medicine, and high performance Sports Medicine, I undertake in-depth clinical evaluation to identify the root causes of problems, and formulate bespoke management plans that help my patients achieve their goals.

I use diagnostic ultrasound in clinic to examine the structure and function of relevant anatomy. I have rapid access to all other necessary diagnostic modalities and advanced imaging, and go through the images with my patents in detail.

I am skilled in using a variety of injection therapies and performing minimally invasive procedures to spinal and peripheral joints and soft tissues. I use real time ultrasound or x-ray image guidance to ensure safe, targeted procedures to help expedite recovery from injuries or chronic pain. Injectates commonly used include steroid, platelet rich plasma (PRP), prolotherapy, and hyaluronic acid. I also provide shockwave therapy for painful tendons and ligaments, and radiofrequency denervation procedure for spine and joint pain.

I have particular expertise in tendinopathy, chronic pain management, concussion, complex and recurrent sports injuries, and youth and adolescent athletes, and have published in these fields. I have led the National Tendinopathy Centre for clinical and research excellence for five years; delivered a multidisciplinary concussion service; and was awarded a British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine Fellowship that took me to Centres of Excellence at Harvard in the USA and the University of Toronto and McMaster University in Canada, to study Sport and Exercise Medicine for children and adolescents.

I see a large number of patients with injuries relating to football, rugby, cricket, triathlon, tennis, hockey, ballet and golf, who commonly present with injuries or disorders of tendons, muscles, bone, joint, cartilage and ligaments, of the head neck spine and limbs. I use my experience and network from working within elite sports to provide the same high level care to all his patients of all levels of ability.

I am currently a Consultant to Reading Football Club, AFC Wimbledon, the European Tour Golf, and the English National Ballet School. Previous positions include with West Ham United Football Club, The English Football Association, Saracens Rugby, The English Cricket Board, British Athletics, The London Marathon and Triathlon, England Hockey, The British Olympic Association, The English Institute for Sport, University College Hospital London, Central London Community Health NHS Trust, the Ministry of Defense, and Aspetar - Qatar Athlete Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital. I have been medical officer at several major multi-sport Games, including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

As an educationalist, having designed, established and taught on successful degree programs in Sports Medicine Exercise and Health at University College London, I ensure all my patients acquire a good understanding of their diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation strategies to enable optimum recovery. I work with a network of colleagues also at the top of their field, when additional expertise is required.
