I have a specialist interest in surgery for abdominal hernias, gallstones and acid reflux including hiatus hernia repair, fundoplication and the Linx procedure. I have been a consultant for over 10 years at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London which is one of the largest upper gastro-intestinal surgical units in the UK, regularly performing complex benign and cancer operations.
I was trained in some of the leading teaching hospitals in London, including King’s College liver unit, the Royal Marsden and St Thomas’. I have a particular interest in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery and was awarded two prestigious laparoscopic surgery fellowships to Pittsburgh, USA and Pretoria, South Africa.
I am an Associate Professor of Surgery at King’s College London and the Chief Investigator of a number of on-going clinical trials examining exercise prior to major surgery and symptom management after cancer surgery. I have also initiated a number of international research collaborations that include participating units from the UK and USA.
