Professional profile

I qualified in medicine in 1991 and undertook specialist respiratory and intensive care training in London. During this period, I was awarded a Welcome Trust Training Fellowship which culminated in a PhD in molecular microbiology from Imperial College.

I have been a consultant chest physician at Frimley Park since 2004. I developed the medical high dependency unit, a regional obstructive sleep apnoea service and regional diagnostic services for lung cancer (EBUS and indwelling pulmonary catheters). I have also served as the director for the regional adult cystic fibrosis service.

I specialise in conditions of the lungs including persistent cough, breathlessness, recurrent chest infections, the investigation of lung cancer and obstructive sleep apnoea.

I have performed over a 1000 flexible bronchoscopies including transbronchial and endobronchial ultrasound procedures.

I am the medical director for Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, the first Trust to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission. I have provided external support to the respiratory service at St. George’s Hospital, London.
