Dr Georgia Spentzou

Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist

MBBS, MRCPCH, CEPS-P, PgCert (Med Ed), MSc (Sports Cardiology)

"The longer consultation times at Spire Bristol allow me to truly listen to my patients, and the excellent facilities give me the space to provide in-depth assessments."

I am a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist with a subspecialty in Electrophysiology & Inherited Cardiac Conditions. I have been working in the field of paediatric cardiology since 2013, with extensive training undertaken in both the UK and Australia. In 2020, I obtained the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Physician Certification in Cardiac Electrophysiology (CEPS-P), further establishing my expertise in the management of heart rhythm disorders in children and adolescents. In 2024, I completed an MSc in Sports Cardiology at St George's University, London, graduating with Distinction.

As a paediatric electrophysiologist, I have extensive expertise in managing arrhythmias in children and adolescents, including young athletes. I have considerable experience in catheter ablation and other specialised treatments that help young people safely return to competitive sports.

I have been a consultant paediatric cardiologist for over 5 years, performing around 100 procedures a year for children with an arrhythmia (catheter ablation or device implantation). Additionally, I have over a decade of experience in echocardiography, having been awarded the EACVI (European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging) Certification in Echocardiography for Congenital Heart Disease in 2018.

In addition to my clinical work, I am committed to medical education and training. I hold an Associate Status position with the University of Bristol, teaching Year 4 medical students during their Child Health placements. I am also an Educational Supervisor for paediatric cardiologists in training, supporting the development of the next generation of specialists in the field.

I maintain an active research interest in innovative treatments for children with arrhythmias and rare cardiac conditions, as I strive to offer the most up-to-date and evidence-based management to my patients.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and young son. I love spending time in nature and I particularly enjoy swimming in the sea, an interest rooted in my childhood growing up in Greece. I also find cooking relaxing and I have recently mastered making a good sourdough loaf at home.
