I have been a Consultant Neurologist in the NHS since 2009. In that time I have established and lead two regional specialist services. I am the Director of the South West Neuromuscular Network and Director of the Bristol Motor Neurone Disease Centre, providing care for people living with Neuromuscular conditions and Motor Neurone Disease throughout the South West.

I was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine for my research into the muscle regenerating properties of bone marrow stem cells.

 

I am an honorary lecturer for the University of Bristol and provide teaching and mentorship for students and doctors in training. I am an NHS consultant appraiser and a Medical Examiner for the University of Bristol and for the Royal College of Physicians.

The South West Neuromuscular network, which I lead, holds both UK network and centre of excellence awards. The network serves over 6,000 people living with Neuromuscular conditions in the South West.

I contribute regionally and nationally to NHS service development through my role in the South West Clinical Senate and as an advisor for NHS England Specialised Commissioning.

Professional leadership

I am the Director of the South West Neuromuscular network, providing Specialist Neuromuscular services throughout the South West.
