I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and offer cataract surgery at Spire Yale Hospital.
I also lead the Medical and Surgical Retina service, with a specialist interest in retinal conditions including age‑related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion and macular hole surgery.
I graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi and completed my postgraduate training at JIPMER, Pondicherry and J N Medical College, Belgaum. I subsequently undertook a Vitreo‑retinal Fellowship at Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai.
In the UK, I completed higher surgical training at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow, Cardiff Eye Unit, St Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
I am actively involved in education and training and serve as an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the European Board of Ophthalmology, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. I have also been a member of the Education and Training Committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and previously chaired the Medical Training Initiative Sub‑committee for International Medical Graduates.
I hold Honorary Faculty positions at Cardiff University Medical School, Swansea University Medical School and the Biomedical Sciences Unit at Bangor University. I am also actively involved in medical research, working in collaboration with Glyndŵr University and the North Wales Clinical Research Centre.
My clinical practice includes the management of diabetic eye disease and a wide range of retinal conditions.
