Mr Gareth Huw Jones
Consultant ENT Surgeon
FRCS (ORL HNS)
"As a Consultant I pride myself on offering a high quality service to my patients. A consultant is only as good as the team around them and in the case of Spire Yale they don’t come better."
I have recently been appointed as a permanent ENT consultant at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, specialising in complex ear, hearing and balance problems. My other specialist interests are paediatric ENT and facial skin cancer.
I specialise in complex ear, hearing and balance, General ENT (blocked nose/throat and voice assessment), Paediatric ENT (including intracapsular coblation tonsillectomy), Facial skin cancer.
I have performed over 100 complex ear surgeries, 100 nasal surgeries for blocked nose, 200 surgeries on children and 200 facial skin cancer surgeries.
During my training I worked at numerous centers across the UK to gain a wide exposure to all aspects of ENT. Patients should therefore expect to recieve from me, the the latest contemporary treatments and techniques. Prior to ENT training I was a doctor in the British army which included a combat tour of Afghanistan. It was fantastic preparation for a career in surgery as I’m now calm under pressure, well organised and a good communicator.
I am the Education lead for ENT at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Gareth Huw Jones at Spire include:
Ear Nose and Throat (ENT)
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Yale Hospital.
MBChB / University of Manchester / 2008
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
MBChB is the primary medical degree a doctor recieves upon graduating from medical school
Before starting ENT training I was a doctor in the British army which gave me extensive leadership experience especially during combat operations in Afghanistan.
Outside of work I try to attend as many ENT courses and conferences as possible to stay up to date with the latest treatments and techniques. Additionally I always make time for my young family and labradoodle. My son has just started school and swimming lessons. Occasionally, there is time left over in the week for the odd round of golf or game of football. Prior to ENT training I was an army doctor, which included a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
