I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust since 2000. I have a special interest in functional bowel disorders of gut–brain interaction (DGBI).
Compassion and empathy are central to my clinical practice. I was the lead clinician for Inflammatory Bowel Disease within the Trust for many years, with extensive experience in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions.
I am currently the lead for hepatobiliary endoscopy (ERCP) and also lead gastroenterology research within the Trust. Under my leadership, the research team at Whiston Hospital was awarded the NIHR Best Commercial Research Team in the North West in 2020. I am also the principal investigator for one of the largest portfolios of commercial gastrointestinal clinical trials in the North of England.

I was the lead clinician for IBD in the Trust for many years. I am currently the lead for hepatobiliary endoscopy(ERCP) as well as the lead clinician for Gastroenterology research.
