I am a full‑time Consultant Cardiologist and serve as Clinical Lead for Cardiology at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, as well as Clinical Director of Cardiology for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales.

I qualified as a doctor in 1992. My cardiology training was predominantly based at University College Hospital and The Heart Hospital in London, where I trained in both general and interventional cardiology. I completed my specialist training in Bristol, focusing on interventional cardiology, heart failure, complex pacing, and adult congenital and structural heart disease. In 2009, I moved to North Wales to take up my Consultant post at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

My clinical practice focuses on the management of heart failure and pacing and complex device therapy, alongside the investigation and treatment of coronary artery disease, including invasive and CT coronary angiography. I also manage adult congenital and structural heart conditions. In addition, I provide general cardiology care, including the management of hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, chest pain and syncope. I have a particular interest in cardiovascular screening and prevention, recognising the importance of early intervention in reducing long‑term cardiovascular risk.

I spent three years at St George’s Hospital Medical School and The Heart Hospital in London undertaking research into cardiomyopathy, heart failure and sudden cardiac death, and have published extensively in these areas. I continue to be actively involved in research and regularly contribute to academic publications. I am also the consultant lead for device therapy, congenital heart disease and CT coronary angiography.

My additional areas of interest include cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia management (cardiac electrophysiology), congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, echocardiography, hypertension and stroke prevention, including the management of younger patients with potential underlying structural causes such as patent foramen ovale.
