Dr Grace Gilbert-Kawai

Dr Grace Gilbert-Kawai

General Practitioner

MBChB, BSc (Hons), Dip GUM, MRCGP, MRCPath ME

I have been a doctor since 2005 and a GP since 2012, with over 20 years of clinical experience, including 13 years working in London. My experience includes working as a GP Partner in a busy London practice, specialist sexual health services and the North London COVID-19 response team.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners, GP appraiser for the North West, GP trainer and Medical Examiner at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. These roles reflect my commitment to high clinical standards, evidence-based practice and lifelong professional development.

I provide comprehensive, personalised general practice care, with a particular interest in assessing new, complex or unexplained symptoms. I see patients with acute and long-term conditions and provide preventive healthcare and health screening, coordinating investigations and specialist referrals where appropriate.

I have a particular interest in women’s health, including contraceptive counselling and provision, fitting and removal of intrauterine contraception (coils) and contraceptive implants, as well as the assessment and management of a broad range of women’s health concerns.

I have extensive experience caring for patients with diverse and complex health needs. My approach is holistic and patient-centred, taking account of the wider context of a person’s health and ensuring that concerns are thoroughly assessed and appropriately investigated. I also have a strong interest in clinical research, having worked as an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at University College London and as Chief Medical Officer for the Xtreme Everest 2 research expedition in 2012.

I believe continuity of care is central to good general practice. I am calm, thorough and approachable, taking time to listen, explain options clearly and involve patients in decisions about their care. My aim is for every patient to feel listened to and understood, with a clear, personalised plan for investigation, treatment and follow-up.
