Mr Nadim Aslam recognised as highest-volume private MAKO user in 2025

21 January 2026

  • A consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire South Bank Hospital has received recognition for his work in robotic-assisted hip and knee joint replacement surgery.

Mr Nadim Aslam, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire South Bank Hospital, has been confirmed as the highest-volume private Mako robotic knee and hip surgeon in the United Kingdom for 2025, according to Stryker UK, the global medical technology company behind the Mako system.

Mr Aslam said the recognition reflects teamwork rather than individual effort.

“This is not just about me. It’s about an exceptional multidisciplinary team - from theatre staff and physiotherapists to administration and leadership. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

Robotic-assisted surgery represents a major step forward in joint replacement, using advanced 3D planning and robotic precision to tailor each procedure to the individual patient. This can result in greater accuracy, improved joint alignment, faster recovery, and a more natural-feeling joint following surgery.

Bradlee Tod, Senior Business Unit Director for Stryker Joint Replacement UK and Ireland, said: “I wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate Mr Aslam for becoming the highest-volume Mako user in the private sector for 2025. Since the launch of Mako at Spire South Bank Hospital, he has been pivotal to the programme’s success, and for that both I and the team are very grateful.”

Special thanks were also paid to Mr Aslam’s Business Development Manager, Katie Davies, for her coordination, dedication, and patient-focused leadership, which have supported the growth of the Mako service. Recognition was also given to Spire South Bank Hospital’s Hospital Director, Dawn Pickerell, for investing in innovative technology and patient care.

The partnership with Stryker has been central to the programme’s success, ensuring ongoing training, safety, and quality assurance.

For patients in Worcestershire and beyond, this achievement means access to nationally leading robotic joint replacement surgery closer to home at Spire South Bank Hospital.

“Ultimately, this recognition is about improving patients’ lives - helping people move better, recover quicker, and return to the activities they enjoy,” Mr Aslam added.
